Thank you for your support of the Friends of the Arlington Public Library. We have received your donation for _______ membership in the amount of $_______. In response to Section 170 of the tax code regarding charitable donations, this letter provides written documentation that neither the Arlington County Libraries, nor the Friends of the Library, provided you with goods or services in exchange for your contribution.
The Friends of the Arlington Public Library are committed to enabling a strong, vibrant, engaged community through the support of our local libraries. Your donation helps support the book collection, author events, storytimes, art and music events, the center for local history at the Central Library, the winter and summer reading programs, and a myriad of child and young adult programming at the eight libraries that comprise the Arlington Public Library system. In 2018, we funded the new “Maker space” on the second floor of the Central Library that will allow Arlingtonians to explore new crafting options including sewing, vinyl lettering, wood working, and 3D printing. We appreciate your support of these programs and our excellent libraries through your membership.
As a Member of Friends, you will begin receiving our quarterly e-newsletter with upcoming author nights and other events. Next time you are looking for a magazine or a book to read, please check out the offerings for sale at your local branch library as all income generated at these stores goes right back into library programs. Finally, don’t miss our book sales – held in spring and fall each year. As a Member of Friends, you are entitled to early admission on Member’s night – the Thursday of each book sale.
We hope to see you soon at a library event.
